Terms of use
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Bojan Vučković, a private individual in Serbia who runs Chess Garage. By using Chess Garage you accept them. The privacy notice says what is stored about you and how to delete it.
The service
Chess Garage is a workbench in the browser for entering, annotating and studying chess Games. It is free. Entering and annotating Games and engine analysis work without an account; storing Games in Collections, Merge, import and export, and the Opening Explorer need you to sign in.
Who may use it
Anyone may use Chess Garage. If you are under the age at which you can agree to these terms in your country, use Chess Garage with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
Your account
You sign in with an e-mail one-time code, a Google account or a Microsoft account. Each sign-in method is a separate account, even for the same e-mail address: the Games saved under one aren’t there when you sign in another way. Sign in the same way each time.
Keep the e-mail address or the account you sign in with to yourself: whoever can sign in with it can see and change your Games.
Your Games
The Games you store stay yours. You allow Chess Garage to store, copy and show them to you only as far as it needs to in order to provide the service. Nobody else can see them in Chess Garage.
Store only what you have the right to keep. Games name their players, as chess Games do; don’t use comments, Tags or other fields to store anything unlawful, or anyone’s personal data beyond what a chess Game records.
Fair use
So that the service stays available to everyone, an account can store up to 2,000 Games, and the number of changes and imports in a short time is limited. Don’t try to get around these limits, to overload the service, to reach anyone else’s data, or to break its security.
An account that breaks these terms may be suspended or deleted with its data. Where possible, you are told first, at its e-mail address.
Games from others
The Classics and the Reference Databases of the Opening Explorer hold Games from other sources, each under its own terms. The engine, Stockfish, is free software under its own license: see the third-party licenses.
No guarantee
Chess Garage is provided free of charge and as it is, without a guarantee that it is always available, free of errors, or right in its analysis. It may change, be interrupted, or end. Keep copies of the Games that matter to you: the Library exports them as PGN. If Chess Garage is to close, this site says so in advance, so that you can export your Games.
As far as the law allows, Bojan Vučković is not liable for lost data or for indirect damage from using Chess Garage. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, such as for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence.
Ending
You can stop using Chess Garage at any time. Delete account… in the account menu deletes all your data; the privacy notice says how to have your sign-in account removed too.
Changes
When these terms change, the new version is published on this page with its date. Using Chess Garage after that means you accept it.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Serbia. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection that the mandatory law of the country you live in gives you.
